Diane di Prima, beat component with a woman's heart, occasionally wrote pornographic scenes for The Olympia Press, which would be added to existing manuscripts. (Have a look at my post about Love on a Trampoline by Sybah Darrich.) Eventually she was invited by the editor, Maurice Giordias, to write a memoir for the imprint.
Apparently Giordias kept suggesting, in handwritten notes on her manuscript pages, that she include MORE SEX in the story, and so she did. Part memoir, part male editorial fantasy, this book is mostly a testimony to her future as a poet. "To live the life of a poet," she writes, "I am leaving the houses I will never own. Dishwashers. Carpets. Dull respect of dull neighbours." Looking back on the writing of this memoir, she said everything in it was true, "except for the sex."
Sorry, currently not selling.
