What have you been daydreaming about lately?

Much of the Singers’ work (psychologist Jerome Singer often collaborated with his partner and wife, Dorothy Singer) focused on the critical importance of imaginative play and its role in cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development. So does this groundbreaking work from 1966 about daydreaming, in which Singer notes that childhood daydreaming first occurs around the age of two and evolves out of early make-believe play. As the website of the National Museum of Play states: "These early daydreams related to play—particularly positive ones focused on happiness and success—can stimulate creativity and problem-solving that allows children to practice life skills which pays off later."
